Andy Sparks: The 18th Birthday

As a makeup artist, I love being involve in my clients' special day whether it is for a wedding, debut or a special event. It's so rewarding to see their smiles after I'm done with their makeup and hair. But most of all, I love it because it becomes more intimate and special to be part of your loved one's special day. And the 17th of July was my sister's 18th birthday. And hey! How many older sister got to do their sister's makeup for their special day? Well I do! 

I can still remember four years ago when I prepared for my 18th birthday. Going to the dress shop, buying new shoes, food tasting, planning the program, posing for the pre-debut shoot, getting glammed up for the big day. It was that precious day that you've waited for eighteen years! And now, my little sister just celebrated hers! (I feel old already!!)

Andy Sparks: The Pre-debut Shoot

Why is 18 such a special number for us girls? Aside from the transition from a little girl to a young lady, maybe because it gives us a speck of empowerment. The ability to do more, the courage to take over the world, and the strength to do whatever we want to do with our lives. As my little sister reach one of the most significant parts of her life, I am glad to be able to do her hair and make up as she gets ready to throw a celebration of her 18 years of existence.
